As well as this, we have our own humanitarian citizen award. I help facilitate the organisation's humanitarian peer education project in the Southwest.
What is humanitarian peer education?
We train young people on humanitarian subjects, such as landmines, refugees and child soldiers, so that they can pick a subject they're interested in and educate other young people of their own age.It's very important to educate young people to look at the world around them; they can be totally focused on the areas where they live.
How did you get into this? I'm doing a degree in youth and community studies and have just finished my second year and qualified as a youth worker. As part of the course, we had to do a placement in youth and community settings, so I decided to work at the British Red Cross.
