What does your role involve? My time is split between organising activities, maintaining individual action plans, and other tasks such as attracting funding and building partnerships. We've just acquired charitable status and elected a management committee, which consists mainly of young people.
Why is the work important? This project is about providing activities for young people to develop the young person's self-confidence and social skills, as well as looking at where the young person wants to move on to. The supportive friendships that have been built from our project are fantastic; as the year has progressed, some natural kind of buddying has started to happen on its own. We cater for young people from 18 up to the age of 30, because in our area, there are not a lot of services for older young people.
