What's your background? I used to work in South Africa in the HIV field. I've always been interested in health. I went out there in 2000 and ended up spending four years there.
What attracted you to your current job? In Africa I dealt a lot with young people. I knew that they were an age group that needed people to come in and educate them. I've also always wanted to work with the homeless. So when I came back and saw the job advertised, it was like fate.
How would you like to develop the role? Part of my job is about health promotion. If we could get more money, I'd like to be able to spend an entire day with a young person, starting with a healthy breakfast, then going to the gym, for example. But we need to get a different budget altogether for that.
