Last year, I studied A-levels and decided to take a gap year to try something different and City Year seemed perfect.

I joined City Year to gain experience in working with children because I want to become a teacher. I was also excited about joining the first City Year London corps.

I am in a Year 5 class and day-to-day I assist the children by mentoring them on a one-to-one basis, and encourage them to excel to the best of their ability. I'm becoming a role model for them to look up to, and to aspire to be the best they can be. I feel I am making a difference by ensuring I am a constant presence in their lives be it in class, in breakfast club or after-school club.

I like the fact that National Grid sponsors our team. It gives us a chance to get to know a big company, on top of the time we spend in school.
