PROJECT NOTES: Get Hooked On Fishing

1 min read

Goals: Angling is thought of as a highly disciplined but fun sport and, as a result, it can help build confidence and encourage teamwork and responsibility

Funding: Community and social housing organisation Bournville Village Trust supports the project by paying for a part-time co-ordinator to run the scheme, and by providing office space and administrative support.

Whichever angle you look at it, the Get Hooked On Fishing project in Bournville is popular with local young people on a big scale.

The scheme is open to young people aged 10 to 16 who would positively benefit from taking part. This includes those at risk of crime, either as a victim or an offender, teenagers with low self-esteem, as well as those who have a history of poor school attendance or underachievement.
