Goals: To give confidential advice to 13- to 24-year-olds and to help young people make independent and informed decisions on practical and legal issues
Funding: The Community Legal Service
When research showed that young people have difficulty in accessing relevant advice, Ashford Citizens Advice Bureau realised that something had to be done. It began work on a web site aimed at young people, culminating in the launch of E-maze last October at the North School in Ashford, involving students, local young people and youth workers.
The research was conducted in 2002 by Ashford and Shepway Community Legal Service Partnership.
Advice is confidential so no young people can be named. Responses have included comments such as, "I could use it as many times as I wanted until I was happy about sorting the rest out myself" and, "I knew I needed advice but didn't want to see anyone: it sorted out my problems without me having to give my name".
