Goals: To create greater mutual understanding and closer ties between young people from the UK and the Middle East

Funding: 150,000 from the British Council, as part of its larger 18m project called Connecting Futures

Fostering mutual understanding between British young people and other cultures has always been the principal aim of Connecting Futures, a British Council initiative that came to an end in March 2006 after five years.

As part of one of its projects, 1 World 1 Voice, five young people aged 15 to 18 from the UK met up with 18 young people from Bahrain, Oman and Yemen in Birmingham to discuss global citizenship, develop long-lasting relationships and to establish a media project that the participants would oversee in their respective nations.
