Most private nursery, daycare and pre-school providers questioned for the survey, Moving Towards Integrated Working, had never heard of the common assessment framework (CAF) or the concept of a lead professional.
The study, looking at the theme of integrated working, found the vast majority of the 800 members of the children's workforce consulted felt integrated working would improve children's services across the board. But the study also concluded that integrated working needs a massive cultural change from all levels of the workforce.
Jane Haywood, chief executive of the CWDC, said: "We believe that the way to improve the children's workforce is by constantly engaging with children, young people and familiesand ensuring that those working with them can meet their needs."
