What can London offer to help persuade the members of the International Olympic Committee to back its bid when it meets in Kuala Lumpur in July?

One possible approach that could help convince the committee is to put youth inclusion and regeneration at the heart of the bid. Just look at how the task of hosting the 2002 Commonwealth Games provided Manchester with a much-needed boost.

During the 2002 Commonwealth Games, 1,000 young people from disadvantaged communities were invited to experience the "spirit of the games". Each of these young people returned from the event inspired and with a desire to see something real and tangible developed that would make their own lives better.
