A White boy attending a special school for pupils with emotional and behavioural problems is mugged by Asian lads during a weekend.

He comes to school angry, makes racist comments and is disruptive. Howshould his behaviour and comments be dealt with?

A social worker who worked with him tells how she dealt with thesituation.

- Four years ago I was working as a social worker helping to promote theeducational attainment of looked-after children. I had to deal with a13-year-old boy who was making racist comments, swearing, and beingaggressive when he turned up to school one morning.

He started to attack some of the other children. I had worked with himfor some time and I had not known him to be like this before. It turnedout he had been mugged at the weekend by a gang of Asian boys.
