How do you handle a troubled child causing problems for the other children in the group without alienating him or his family further? An experienced childminder tells how she dealt with the situation

I've been a childminder for around 23 years and I don't give up on children willy-nilly. I did pack in one child when I first started, because the job was new to me and the child's behaviour was upsetting my youngest son, but I was inexperienced.

However, recently I took on a five-year-old boy who presented a real challenge. It became apparent quite quickly that he had behavioural problems - anger issues that he was picking up from someone else in his family.
