I help out in a creche, which runs while the babies' and toddlers' parents attend parenting classes at a family centre run by a local charity. One day, my colleagues and I noticed that one of the babies had noticeably blue, discoloured hands and feet, which did not feel cold. It was not something that we'd seen before and we all agreed that if it was our child we'd be concerned enough to seek medical advice.
At the end of the session, we pointed the condition out to the mother. But she was not interested, very defensive and dismissed our suggestion that she should take her daughter to the doctor.
