Last year I spent a month working at a summer activity camp for children aged two to 12. The younger children were cared for by trained nursery staff, but those aged five and above were looked after by older teenagers like myself.
I had no experience of working with children, and one of the reasons I took the job was to get an idea whether I'd like to go into childcare as a profession. The pay was a joke.
