Policy & Practice: Health check - Diabetes among teenagers Bexley

1 min read
Bexley has slightly above average admissions for type two diabetes, which is what one might expect given the socioeconomic make-up of the borough.

Although general attitudes towards eating a healthy diet are improving, poor diets remain an issue among white, working-class groups. Another group prone to type two diabetes is the Asian community, which accounts for five per cent of Bexley's population. The reason for higher levels of type two diabetes among Asians is partially genetic but is also down to a higher intake of ghee in the diet.
