So is this about whether we have databases? No, it is established that there will be databases to share information about children and young people. This consultation, which is based on the experience of pilots, is about how they will operate.
Remind me again what these databases are for? Every child and young person up to 18 will have basic data recorded. The bottom line here is that their entry should provide evidence that they are receiving their right to the universal services of health care and education. So the record will include their name, address, date of birth, gender, a unique identifying number, contact details for a parent or guardian and for their school and GP practice. There will be contact details of other practitioners involved and a flagging system for when a practitioner has a concern.
