So what's the significance of a new boss at the Charity Commission?

It's not so much about a new individual as a new structure. When the chief charity commissioner John Stoker's term expires in June, he will be replaced by a more conventional structure of part-time non-executive chair and full-time chief executive.

Interesting but, again, why is this significant? This is one of the first tangible steps in the process of charity law reform that has been going on for two years and will probably culminate in a bill going before Parliament towards the end of 2004. Charity law has remained largely based on a 400-year-old statute.
