PARTICIPATION: Unicef builds team of youth advisers

This will give under-18s a formal say in the activities of the UN agency for the first time.

Nina O'Farrell, Unicef UK's youth officer, said: "We have been working towards this for some time."

The agency plans to appoint and train up to 30 youth advisers and four to six youth representatives. The advisers will help direct Unicef UK's attempts to engage young people, while the representatives will be advocates.

Representatives might also be taken to Ethiopia to see Unicef's work first-hand.

The first round of interviews will take place during the Easter school holidays. Call Lucy de Wesselow on 020 7312 7659.
