Participation: Unicef expands UK youth work team

1 min read

The organisation is recruiting four youth workers and a head of youth service to deliver its new strategy. This includes a youth ambassadors group, which will grow from 15 to 30 young people, a web site, and the C8 project, which recently allowed young people to challenge ministers.

Anita Tiessen, deputy director at Unicef UK, said: "The young ambassadors felt that Unicef should get young people access to the media, access to the Government and policymakers, and give them connections to young people overseas. These will form the focus of our work." Unicef will hold Youth Voice roadshows to promote the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Cardiff on 19 November and Newcastle on 3 December.
