An Overview of Child Well-being in Rich Countries, published by Unicef today, places the UK last. It is based on six criteria, using indicators available from all countries, and the views of children and young people.
Bob Reitemeier, chief executive of The Children's Society, said: "Children and young people in this country are not getting the love, support, care and attention they should."
The Children's Society is conducting its own Good Childhood Inquiry, and has launched a web site to gather the views of children and young people.
