Participation: Swindon teenagers need a youth cafe

The Swindon Advertiser is setting up a meeting between local young people and councillors to facilitate the launch of the cafe. Editor Mark Waldron said the campaign sprang from a series of articles the paper ran on issues facing young people in the town in September.

"We didn't want it to look like a token gesture, as if we took the teenagers out of their box and then forgot about them," he said. "A clear issue that arose from the articles was that young people in the town wanted somewhere they could go where they could just relax, and we thought that was worth pursuing."
