Participation Works will give clear guidance on policies and theoriessurrounding children and young people's participation rights and is runby a consortium of children's charities.
The service is also gearing up to launch practical mini-guides aimed atsupporting practitioners working with children and young people to bringabout change, along with a short guide to participation. A youngpeople's advisory group is being formed to make sure children and youngpeople lead the work nationally.
Carolyne Willow, the service's national co-ordinator, said: "Childrenand young people can gain enormously from being involved indecision-making processes."
By July this year, the UK will submit its next report to the UNCommittee on the Rights of the Child. Last time the committee examinedthe UK, it recommended giving children more legal rights toparticipate.
