The Hansard Society's summary report of the debate concludes that, despite the availability of background information, many young people are "unable and unwilling to tackle new ideas" about asylum issues.
Ross Ferguson, co-ordinator of HeadsUp, said: "There is confusion when adults and the media discuss asylum, and it was apparent that young people have been influenced by this."
