Parents are urged to text for advice

Education
Parents from ethnic minorities are to be targeted in a campaign that encourages them to text a charity for advice.

The AskACE text messaging service, provided by the Advisory Centre for Education (ACE), offers free advice for parents on subjects such as exclusion, bullying and admissions.

From September, the service will be promoted through a poster campaign in Citizens Advice bureaux, children's centres, law centres and community centres.

The service, which is available to all parents of children aged five to 16, was launched six months ago for parents of children with special educational needs, but ACE decided to expand the service to cover a wider range of issues and target hard-to-reach families.
