Parenting: Struggling parents are in need of help

1 min read

The Parentline Plus survey found that 82 per cent of visitors to the charity's web site were worried about sexual activity by 13- to 15-year-olds. Binge drinking was also a concern for parents, who felt they did not understand enough about the risks of drugs.

The charity said parents and carers of 10- to 12-year-olds should get extra help, and there should also be schemes aimed at giving support to fathers.

It added that the Government should provide statistics on issues that worry parents - such as the average age of first sexual activity or the level of drug taking at 15 - to help them deal with their fears and communicate better with their children.
