Why are we so good in this country at blunting the teeth of everything exciting and never giving things a real chance? We talk about citizenship as the bedrock of youth work and a more relevant curriculum, and we have never seen more effort and resources going into youth participation work.
Yet when we get the first real opportunity to actually begin to address the democratic deficit, we decide to go for the more "traditional approach".
The most frequent criticisms young people make when organisations "ask for their opinions", is that they "don't listen", "don't care" and, most relevant, that "nothing will ever change".
