Wasn't this all sorted in 2004? Well, yes, the Electoral Commission did complete a review of the voting age study, along with a public consultation, and decided against recommending a reduction. However, it did add that things may change - especially in light of increased citizenship education giving young people a better understanding of politics and raising an expectation that they should be able to exercise that by voting. The commission recommended that the government has another think towards the end of the decade. This initiative from the Youth Citizenship Commission includes a consultation paper with survey questions and nationwide "engagement events" aimed at both adults and young people.
