Opinion: If I were in charge of ... the country - Tom Grundy, 15,Greater Manchester

I would definitely make sure I looked after young people. The first thing I would do as a Prime Minister is make water sports a key part of PE.

I am a member of a sailing club and love spending time dinghy sailing -it's fun, wet and exciting as well as good exercise.

I hope that by being National Cadet of the Year 2006 in St JohnAmbulance, I will have a chance to change people's opinions ofyoungsters. Young people are often looked upon as a threat to thecommunity or "trouble makers".

I would give each town at least one youth centre where young peoplecould go and learn new things, have a laugh with friends or get advicewhen they feel they need it. I would try and make sure there werecomputers and games consoles available.
