Opinion: If I were in charge of ... Social workers - Ellouise Rogers, 13, Shropshire

I think social workers need to listen more to the children because they always seem to let you down in some way or another.

I think maybe if their bosses were a lot stricter with them then it would be a lot better for the children.

They always say they are going to come but they don't and they're always late and stuff like that. Of course they don't do it on purpose, but they could think more about it. Maybe it's other people's fault and the traffic.

I think my social worker is probably the best. Other foster children tell you about their social workers and they don't sound very good but my social worker - she lets me down sometimes - but other times she's alright.

She lets me understand things the way I want to understand them and she always tries to do the most she can for me. The Social Work Committee, or something, they pay for things you want to do.

I think they should think about that a bit more because foster carers can't always pay for their children to go places and do things that they want to and I think that they should take that into consideration and give our foster carers some money. I might like to be a social worker if there wasn't really much else to do.
