It's a waste of money - it's also a waste of money for hospitals, and if someone needs an extra lung and it goes to the person who smokes that's not fair because the smoker chose to damage their lungs by smoking.
A lot of people drink when they smoke, so if smoking was banned in pubs, more people might stop drinking as well as smoking.
I think that if people are dying from smoking, hospitals should only treat them two or three times because other people need to be treated for illnesses that are important.
I would also ban smoking in playgrounds and any other places near children.
