YES - Derek Lawrence, senior area youth worker, Leeds Youth Service
Although the two areas of work are different in essence, as a youth worker I believe they are compatible. The differences need to be linked and brought together, and presented in a holistic way.
We work with both models in Leeds, as there is a need to provide crime-reduction programmes and social-educational programmes to meet the needs of young people.
We have worked with Crime Concern for a number of years, planning and sharing resources to ensure the effective delivery of Splash programmes and Youth Inclusion Programmes. The work has been fruitful and a valuable experience for both organisations.
