I read with interest the two articles regarding volunteering charity v and youth volunteering (YPN, 28 March-3 April, p2, p5). It makes wonderful reading. Unfortunately, for those of us at the grassroots level, who have been delivering, promoting and supporting youth volunteering since the mid-90s, it feels like lots of talk but no action.
Please can someone explain why v is having to reinvent youth volunteering when many projects across the country have been delivering high-quality work that has supported hundreds (if not thousands) of young people for years.
At a recent conference to launch v to ex-Millennium Volunteers (MV) providers, instead of being informed about the future, we were being asked about how this work should be done.
