I enjoyed reading the interview with Stonewall's director (YPN, 18-24 April, p11) but to most of us in youth work it is stating the obvious. A sad but true fact.

It was over 10 years ago that I came out as bisexual at school, which was almost universally misunderstood. Thankfully I had very supportive friends and my courage led a few others to come out at that time. At university I didn't feel able to join the LGB club because I was in a relationship with a man so it was a while until I came out there. Gay people are just as bad at understanding bisexual perspectives as straight people. I have since learned to be selective with telling people.
