The publication of the hefty National Service Framework for Children,Young People and Maternity Services is an important start on improving the health of young people, and the probable inclusion of a chapter on children and young people in the forthcoming white paper on public health is also significant.
The "Places to go, things to do" section in the green paper on youth is also likely to place an emphasis on sports and other healthy pursuits.
But what is more important is how to move beyond the structures laid out in government documents and build a strategy that will ensure integrated health services for young people are able to deliver at a local level.
