Celebrities can help charities

Howard Williamson raises a valid point regarding celebrities in the charity sector. But it is wrong to tar all celebrities with the same fake tan brush (CYP Now, 9-15 April).

Timely support is key to helping young people. That is why The Prince's Trust uses celebrities with the valued gritty determination to reach those young people that others have failed to reach.

All these ambassadors are long-standing supporters who genuinely care about using their talents to inspire the hardest-to-reach young people. Is this "an almost fawning deference to all forms of celebrity" - or is it using the unavoidable pull of talent and success to the advantage of our young people?
