- London Mayor must deliver

With the London mayoral election just days away, we are calling on the candidates to make children and young people a top priority and work with the voluntary sector to improve the lives of all young Londoners (CYP Now, 16-22 April).

We want the candidates to commit to tackling child poverty as, despite the capital being one of the most prosperous cities in the world, more than 650,000 of London's children live in poverty.

Candidates should also ensure young people are safe - every eight minutes a child aged 10 to 17 in London tells the police they have been the victim of a crime. The mayor should also use planning powers to help children living in unsuitable accommodation and provide more play space. And action is needed to help young people find work and reduce health inequalities.
