Your otherwise excellent summary of the Children's Plan (CYP Now, 9-15January 2008) repeated an error made twice in the plan itself, describing a proposed move to "age not stage" testing. This actuallyrefers to the current position which it is proposed to move away from. However, the plan also refers three times to the recommendations ofexpert groups about teaching tailored to children's needs and based ontheir "stage not age", which the Department for Children, Schools andFamilies confirms is the correct term. Let's hope the confusion can besorted out before the wrong mantra takes hold of us all.
