On the Ground: Youth Magazine Roundup

1 min read Youth Work
"Anything's Possible" is the theme of the latest issue of Nang! magazine, using the election of Barack Obama as an inspiration for readers to realise their potential. It features Three Faiths, a project that unites young Christians, Muslims and Buddhists, then encourages them to break down barriers.

The second edition of Telford & Wrekin Council's magazine For the Record celebrates the achievements of children and young people in the area over the past year. Among those singled out for praise are 112 young offenders who have been learning woodcraft and selling items for charity, as well as making dormouse nesting boxes for the Forestry Commission. The magazine also highlights the work of young role models who have volunteered for local youth clubs and charities.

A happy and healthy year is the focus of Richmond-upon-Thames' youth magazine Outskirts, featuring tips for improving mental and physical health. The young writers describe a four-point plan for a happier life, including improving self-belief and learning to control stress levels. Rollerblading, BMX and dancing are featured as fun ways of exercising, and tips from the Mental Health Foundation encourage readers to be social and talk about problems with friends.
