On the ground: Youth magazine round-up

The latest issue of Camden's youth magazine On Road features a knife-crime special.

Seventy local young people were surveyed to establish why young people feel the need to arm themselves in the first place. The top answer was "for self defence" followed in joint second with "for respect" and "peer pressure". When asked what should be done to prevent knife crime, the most popular answer was - surprise, surprise - give young people more things to do. A further 20 per cent thought that stronger punishments were the answer.

Sandwell's award-winning youth magazine Voice 21 has an interview with Elliot Minor as its cover feature. Elliot who, you may ask. Well, they're a group of classically trained choir boys from York who are trying to make it in the world of pop rock. We're told a whole array of interesting facts about the group, including that one band member wears boxer shorts for four days in a row and another can turn his lips inside out so it looks like he has no lips at all.
