An estimated 5,000 children, parents, teachers and community members marched in Hereford city centre to protest against the local authority's plans to close or merge 37 rural schools. Matt agreed with protestors that the march was just as much about saving rural communities.
Keeping with the theme of protest, Selin Kavlak has her own in the latest issue of Contrast, the London Borough of Hackney's youth publication. Selin is fed up with the way the media presents Islam. She puts herself forward as proof that Islam does not oppress all women, and says that it's culture, not religion that gives women gender roles. She makes a good case. After all, why would she follow a religion that supposedly hates her entire sex?
