On the Ground: Youth magazine round-up

1 min read
Chantelle Allen calls for an end to the stereotyping of young people in the latest edition of Sandwell's youth magazine, Voice 21.

She thinks we forget how much stereotyping and prejudice affects the person on the receiving end. Chantelle reminds readers that young people are in the process of forming their ideas about the world, and that negative stereotypes can determine how they live the rest of their lives.

The young journalists from Grounded are concerned about another type of respect in their spring edition. They ask what respect means to their readers, and look at how young people can be respected and respectful. Their recommendations include treating everyone with fairness, and allowing people to live without discrimination or harassment. They also say that having rights brings responsibilities, and that young people should be accountable for their actions.
