Ofsted fails to improve its relations with early years

Early Years
Ofsted has come under fire for failing to improve dialogue with local authority heads of early years.

In April, members of the Local Authority Early Years Network called for more regular meetings with regional Ofsted leads to share concerns.

The watchdog promised to look at its relationship with local authorities as it carried out an organisational review, but changes are yet to be made.

Dwynwen Stepien, director of the Early Childhood Unit, heads up the network. She told CYP Now: "If Ofsted was going to incorporate regional meetings with heads of early years into its restructure I would have expected some progress by now. I will bring it up at the network meeting in September and we will be calling for a definitive response."
