Ofsted looks to build bridges

Ofsted has announced plans to provide every local authority in the country with a key contact in a bid to improve communications with members of children's services departments.

The changes apply to all children's services, but council chiefexecutives and directors of children's services are awaiting furtherdetails on the arrangements from the inspectorate.

Dwynwen Stepien, chair of the Local Authority Early Years Network, said:"This has the potential to reduce inconsistencies between authoritiesand Ofsted assessment of the quality of early years settings."
