Obesity: Industry rethink on vending machines

Food and drink manufacturers have agreed to remove all branding from vending machines in primary and secondary schools where it's requested by schools and local education authorities.

Members of the Food and Drink Federation, which include high profile manufacturers such as Coca-Cola and Nestle, will also look to broaden the choice of products available in schools under a new blueprint for industry participation published this week.

Federation members said they would work with the Government and communications regulator Ofcom to "further tighten" their self-regulatory codes on advertising to children.
