NYA: Agency kicks off with street league

1 min read
The National Youth Agency is looking to work with Street League, the national charity that aims to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people using the power of sport.

The agency will be advising it on governance issues involving young people.

Street League, described by Fifa as "the strongest Development through Football organisation currently operating in the UK", runs a structured football and education programme that helps build confidence, improve health, extend social networks and develop skills towards long-term education, employment and independence.

Players come from a range of disadvantaged backgrounds, including homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, displacement, unemployment, crime, learning difficulties and mental health.

The charity has also appointed Matt Stevenson-Dodd as its new chief executive. He will be attending the Football for Hope Festival 2010, an event being held alongside the Fifa World Cup Finals in Johannesburg.
