Numbers game: Young Londoners

An ICM poll of 11- to 16-year-olds living in London found that 52 per cent rated the choice of shops as one of the city's best features.

The mixture of people, the presence of "lots of things for kids to do" and leisure facilities were the next most popular features. Museums and similar attractions were favoured by 18 per cent of young people.

The survey, conducted for the Greater London Assembly, also delved into young people's dislikes about the city. Pollution, traffic congestion, the cost of living and crime were major bugbears, with each being named by about one in three of the 1,072 young residents questioned.
