Youth Provision: Young Londoners bemoan activities

1 min read

Half of the 1,072 young Londoners surveyed by the Greater London Authority said more activities were needed in the capital. A similar number said they hadn't got involved in projects to help change their community, mainly because they hadn't been asked.

Nearly three-quarters of young people take part in home-based activities, including watching TV and playing video games, but only 37 per cent regularly engage in sport.

Thirty-nine per cent have never attended a youth club.

Nearly half have been a victim of crime, and 20 per cent have been bullied.

The report's publication coincides with London Mayor Ken Livingstone's second State of London's Children, which examines the lives of the capital's under-18s.
