Numbers game Changing attitudes

The Right Of Admission Reserved (ROAR) Reunited poll recreated a survey of 15- to 24-year olds conducted in 1995 in order to see how the views of young people then compare with the young people of 2005.

The findings showed that 58 per cent of young people in 2005 feel their future looks brighter than their parents, compared with 45 per cent in 1995. Today's young people also appear to be more sensible, with 21 per cent never wanting to have lots of responsibility compared with 40 per cent a decade ago.

But Jo Rigby, head of OMD Insight, says: "I don't know if sensible is the right word. They have a greater sense of responsibility because of the pressures they now face."
