What's happening? The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF), with support from supermarket chain Lidl Northern Ireland, has launched an educational resource designed to teach nursery school children about the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise.

What is it about? Genevieve and the Farmyard Olympics, a book aimed at children aged three to four-years-old, has been sent to every nursery school in Northern Ireland. The star of the book is Genevieve the goat, who shows children the benefits of an active lifestyle when she encourages the rest of her farmyard friends to take part in the Farmyard Olympics.

Why is this needed? The book aims to develop children's views on exercise and healthy living early on. Clare Smith, education adviser at the UCF, says: "The story of Genevieve has been designed to introduce healthy lifestyle messages to children at an age when research shows they are most receptive. Poor nutrition and lack of physical activity has been shown to lead to obesity and an increased risk of cancer."
