
Moves to merge children's services are gathering pace following last month's spending review, as authorities attempt to minimise the impact of spending cuts on frontline services.
Three boroughs in London are considering merging their children's services entirely, while it was revealed by CYP Now last week that authorities in Greater Manchester are developing a model where there could be more flexible collaboration in certain services across small groups of the region's 10 councils (see below).
But what issues might service mergers cause and what could be the impact for vulnerable children?
