NCB Now: Young volunteer scheme launched

1 min read
In June 2008, youth volunteering charity v announced the launch of its programme, including NCB's Young Volunteer Leadership Programme.

V promotes youth volunteering across England and its unique programme allows young people to identify, design and deliver a local project of their choice for the benefit of the community.

"Young people aged 16 to 17 are encouraged to implement projects that will make a difference to local issues that are important to them," said NCB-based programme co-ordinator Geraldine Lowe.

Participants will attend two learning residentials and receive continual support to complete their projects successfully. Volunteer leaders will also be eligible to gain credits from the Open College Network.

Recruitment for volunteer leaders from London, South England and South East England closes on 1 August. A commitment of two hours per week is required. Volunteers can also earn a v50 award if 50 or more hours are completed.
